Calling City Dwellers To Green-up; Urban Design Key Theme at New RHS Show
The UK’s foremost gardening charity
and organiser of the world’s most famous flower shows, the RHS, is creating an event
in the heart of London to help urbanites make the most of their outside spaces.
Part of the ‘new look’ London shows, The RHS Plant and Design Show will take place
on 17 - 18 February, in the RHS Horticultural Halls, Greycoat Street, SW1. To book
tickets call 0845 612 1253 or visit
www.rhs.org.uk/londonshows.
The theme of urban design will be prevalent at the show and planted front gardens,
clever ways to green up balconies and design tips are some of the features set to
inspire those living in cities to green-up their outside space.
The use of front gardens has been topical for some time, especially with recent
legislation requiring planning permission to pave them. At the show Capel Manor
College, the Society of Garden Designers and regular show designer Claire Potter
are just three of the exhibitors showcasing designs to help you get the most out
of your front garden using both plants and hard landscaping and innovative products
such as green walls.
Balconies designed by invited guests will give clever ideas to brighten up even
the smallest urban space. In the elements of design section, the latest products
suitable for urban gardens will be showcased.
Visitors will also be able to ‘ask the expert’ and pick up top tips about garden
design and plants from the RHS advisory team, garden designers and contractors.
To ensure inspired gardeners can then take home all they need to enhance their outside
space, plants and gardening accessories galore will be available to purchase from
leading nurseries and specialist shopping stands.
