Gardening inspiration in the heart of the capital
Beautiful plants to see and buy, show gardens by top designers, seasonal ideas and
expert advice, unique artwork and exciting new features; a day-out to a Royal Horticultural
Society (RHS) London Show is a perfect way to spend the day celebrating the seasons,
in 2012.
14 - 15 February: RHS London Plant and Design Show

Kick-starting the flower show year with winter colour and early, spring-flowering
plants, the UK’s best nurserymen and growers will gather in RHS Lawrence Hall
to showcase spectacular floral displays. Exhibitors include multi-RHS Gold medal
winners Jacques Armand and Avon Bulbs. Plants are available to buy.
Making the most of small outdoor spaces is a major theme of the show, and two of
the 2011 RHS Young Designer of the Year finalists, Alexandra Froggatt (above sketch)
and Owen Morgan, will stage show gardens demonstrating how you can transform a neglected,
unloved alleyway into a beautiful green oasis. The Society of Garden Designers will
also be running a design clinic in RHS Lindley Hall, where visitors can put questions
to the experts about the designs on display.

Specialist growers from across the globe will be exhibiting a spectacular array
of exotic and hardy orchids to highlight the importance of orchid conservation in
the wild. Some of the orchids are so rare they have not been seen in this country
before. Visitors can ask growers about their extraordinary history, wonder at their
unique beauty and buy from a vast collection of orchids.
Exhibitors include The Orchid Society of Great Britain, Eric Young Orchid Foundation
and the Writhlington School Orchid Project, all of whom are dedicated to the conservation
of this mysterious plant. In the RHS Lindley Hall, a selection of the world’s best
botanical artists will display a collection of their work. Exclusively for 2012,
the Hampton Court Palace Florilegium Society will be exhibiting part of its botanical
art collection. This will be the first time the collection has left the grounds
of the Palace.

With the arrival of spring, the RHS is holding a plant fair for people to stock-up
on plants and receive advice from RHS experts on ways to replenish their frost-bitten
gardens.
Leading nurseries and growers, the majority of which are RHS Chelsea Flower Show
regulars, will be selling stunning spring-flowering plants, seeds and bulbs, including
tulips, chrysanthemums, daffodils and much more. Top traders will also be selling
tools and other essential gardening implements.

A floral and foodie feast celebrating the colour and taste of autumn. See, taste
and buy mouthwatering produce, marvel at magnificent floral displays and purchase
plants, gardening products and gadgets.
Autumn is the perfect time to be planting and top nurserymen and growers will be
holding interactive demonstrations to show how you can create impactful autumnal
containers. RHS Advisory will also be on hand to answer all gardening queries. of
edible delights like chutneys, chillis, apples, jams and pumpkins to tempt both
the eye and palate.
