Investing In The Horticulturalists Of The Future
In
the current challenging economic environment and with tuition fees set to increase
students are feeling the pinch more than most. This academic year the David Colegrave
Foundation has four scholarships to invest in the horticulturalists of the future.
Horticultural students are encouraged to apply for the scholarships and bursaries
which amount to £5,000.
The awards are as follows:
Ball Colegrave Scholarship Award, which provides a bursary of up
to £2,500 to support a young person employed on a Commercial Bedding
Plant Nursery to fund travel to Europe in order to develop their knowledge and experience
in bedding plant production and marketing.
Floranova Ornamental Horticulture Research Scholarship, which provides
an award of £1,500 to support a student with a particular interest
in ornamental horticulture research and development.
Garden Centre Group Award, offering 2 bursaries of £1,500
each. The bursary will be made available to any students studying horticulture with
a preference given to those who have an interest in retail horticulture. Opportunities
for weekend and/or part-time work at the Garden Centre Group will also be offered
to award winners.
David Colegrave Foundation Trustee, Jeff Colegrave, said, “The Foundation is looking
for keen students with a real passion for horticulture to apply for the awards that
we have on offer in collaboration with Ball Colegrave, Floranova and the Garden
Centre Group. Previous award winners have really benefitted from their experiences
and we are keen to see as many applicants as possible for these prestigious awards.”
