Win £5,000 to Create a Garden at BBC Gardeners' World Live 2010
NS&I announces Growing Gardens Today competition
for established & aspiring garden designers
NS&I (National Savings and Investments) is calling for garden design enthusiasts
to enter its Growing Gardens Today competition, before the 22 January 2010 deadline.
Three lucky winners will receive a £5,000 grant to build a 25m2 garden and display
it at this year’s BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2010 at the NEC Birmingham.
Competition entrants must create an innovative and modern garden, growing fruit
and vegetables, focusing on sustainability, good environmental practices, diversity
and recycling. Budding designers must supply their drawings with a list of the plants
to be featured by 22 January 2010.
Garry Bond, Grow Your Own spokesperson at NS&I commented, “NS&I is delighted
to once again be running the Growing Gardens Today competition at the BBC Gardeners’
World Live event for the third consecutive year. This unique competition combines
creativity in horticulture with growing your own produce, and each year both professional
and aspiring gardeners enter for a chance to showcase their design at the garden
show. And having seen past winners go on to forge successful garden design careers,
we hope this opportunity will enable more people to explore the exciting world of
gardening and horticulture.”
NS&I created the Growing Gardens Today competition in 2008 as an extension of
its ongoing support to encourage more Brits to grow their own fruit and vegetables
– an activity that is not only fun for everyone, but is also something that can
be done anywhere. What’s more, NS&I believes that growing your own is just like
saving in many ways as it helps you financially and your initial investment benefits
from good planning and nurturing.
Application forms and terms and conditions can be downloaded from the NS&I website
at
www.nsandi.com/rhs. Winning entrants will be notified by 29 January 2010.
The competition is in association with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
